The Farrier, hotel in Scarborough

Located in Scarborough, 1.5 miles from Cayton Bay Beach, The Farrier provides accommodations with a terrace, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar.

Everything. I really have no words to describe the perfection of the Old Stables room (loft? Mini-apartment?) I would happily live there forever. The room was huge, beautifully decorated in a fabulous equestrian motif (the Farrier is at the original blacksmith shop), sparkling clean, and too many amenities to list. The food is delicious and plentiful. We had the full English breakfast and it set us up for the whole day! Everyone on staff were really lovely and so kind. I wish we could’ve stayed for more than one night!

Like many seaside towns Scarborough is run down and dirty it...

Like many seaside towns Scarborough is run down and dirty it attracts many people who are looking for seasonal work but often have social problems making for an unpleasant atmosphere in the streets. There is a virtual plague of Seagulls they are everywhere fighting, squawking among themselves dive bombing in the streets aggressively pinching food, bird droppings adorn all the buildings and the streets. It would not harm the birds to move them by not allowing them to nest on buildings. There is not much to do in the town other than eat, drink and play the penny slots. The shopping is very poor. The beach is very nice and the park also. The water park is currently closed. The outdoor theatre does have very good concerts in the summer and would be the only reason to come back. Dog lovers should love the town but it's not for me.

A beautiful little town with so much to offer, we were booked for only 2 nights but we were so lucky because the weather was very good, I went down to the beach at sunrise and it was so calm and relaxing and not cold at all. There is so much to see and do but just didn't have time, planning on coming back soon.

It’s never going to have the same clientele or whether of the south of France but what it lacks in the weather it makes up for in the welcoming atmosphere of its people and the beautiful scenery is never going to be replicated anywhere else in Europe. The only thing that I would recommend to anyone who is interested in opening a restaurant, go for it as it is not over blessed with top quality restaurants in and around the central area of the town.

Our hotel location was on the South side of Scarborough...

Our hotel location was on the South side of Scarborough which we prefer due to being quieter with great walks, Italian Garden area and panoramic views of the harbour town area and beach. The town centre area has plenty of shops, eateries and entertainments but not as preferable. We didn't visit the North bay area but it does feature a great park area to explore. On busy days traffic routes through the town can be tiresome and badly signposted for unfamiliar driving visitors. (without satnav guidance maybe?!) Parking can be problematic so do some homework before booking a location.

I actually really like this place , we went to a small local restaurant called II Piatto ( I went there the last time I stayed) you may need to book but you will not be disappointed with the food. They also take the taste card so you get 2 for 1 on a main course.

    Beautiful beach.

Beautiful beach. Very hilly to get to town but a tramway provides a great service to and from the beach. Food delicious. Fish and chips, dohnuts, pies,. Can do boat trips and a crazy golf too. Town centre has shops and quirky unique ones too. Beautiful place, Of course the tV show The Royal was filmed here too.

I went for a few days with my son who was back from university. Rooms were clean and beautifully decorated. Margaret and Steve the owners were lovely and always happy to help. The location was about 5 minutes from the front. But really well situated for exploring the surrounding area on foot or car or bike. Parking was a little tight but fine. Will definitely go back to this hotel when we return to Scarborough in the future.

Amazing renovation on a staple hotel/building in scarborough. I truly think this is the best location in town, the views of the spa bridge and sea are unmatched. The amenities are vast and all brilliant, room comfortable and really nicely decorated, bed very comfy. The breakfast was great including vegan croissants! We had dinner in the restaurant one evening which was brilliant.

Perfect location!! On to the seafront in no time at all!! Absolutely beautiful apartment and was ideal for a small family like us. Our little boy has multiple food allergies so eating out on holiday isn't always that simple so going for a self-catered aparthotel like this was the perfect solution. We have family in Yorkshire so will definitely be booking here again!!

Very friendly and helpful team led by Claire. The property is situated perfect for a short walk to the beach or into town in what I would consider to be the best part of Scarborough. Parking was easy and permits available. (We managed to park directly outside the hotel. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Thanks Claire and team, we’ll be back in a heartbeat, Dan xo
