Stanley is a unique location with a rich history. Staying at the Ship Inn helped us to appreciate this location and its history. Excellent eating places within easy walking distance - Stanley Hotel provided a very enjoyable meal; Hurseys is a must visit with great seafood dishes, with an array of other options. Stanley is very easy to get around both on foot and by car. Only one bowser for petrol provided a challenge, but is easily managed. A great place to visit.

Nicely set up for tourists, with a wide range of accommodation options. A good base for exploring The Tarkine Drive (and some short walks along the route). Stanley has specially designed, red-lit platforms for admiring the little penguins coming ashore in the evenings. There is a nice, wind-swept walk around the top of the Nut, which hosts a colony of pademelon.

Penguin viewing, walking the town and enjoying a great coffee at Marley’s and excellent takeaway fish and chips from Hurseys. We arrived at 8 pm on Day 1. Spent Day 2 visiting the Tarkine area then walked around Stanley. Day 3 we enjoyed the Harvest Market - excellent for fresh produce, craft and music.

Accommodation was superb and pub was just across the road. If we had more time, it looks like a lovely little town to walk around.
Definitely take the chair lift instead of walking up the hill. Then you have the energy to walk around the top of The Nut.

Stanley is a beautiful town with lovely houses and places to eat, drink and shop. A trip on the chair lift to the top of The Nut was excellent. Icing on the cake was seeing the little blue o penguins come home after a days’ fishing.

Herseys seafood was a big disappointment.. have abeBen traveling to Stanley for many years and up until this trip enjoyed the experience at restaurant... apparently new chef would not recommend you waste your money...we went to stanley hotel and had an excellent meal would recommend the hotel
A decent sized apartment with comfortable furnishings. Nicely located for walking into town and up the 'Nut'. We only stayed for one night on our travels around Tasmania but the apartment seemed to have everything that we needed. Stanley itself is a quirky little town with some nice local artisan shops, and you have to try the adjacent 'Angels Share' if you're interested in trying Tasmania craft whisky's and gins, an impressive selection on offer and a knowledgeable owner.
A pleasant, older-style room in a historic hotel, tastefully finished and furnished. The location is perfect; it’s an easy walk to everything Stanley has to offer. A very good dinner in the dining room and the bar is nice enough. The wine cellar is amazing, perhaps more so for it being a proper old-style below ground bunker than its contents (they were fine, by the way, but not as special as the cellar itself).
Everything was perfect. We appreciated our stay in Stanley. We booked the house + a room for 6 and it was really incredible. The decoration, the small details, everything, even the breakfast, it was our favorite place during our holidays in Tasmania and we wish to be able to be back soon and to stay longer than a night this time.
I can only recommend this place !!
A beautifully presented, immaculate apartment! Definitely the nicest accommodation we experienced in Tasmania. Sensational location with views overlooking the beach and The Nutt as the backdrop! Every convenience one could ask for.. Netflix was a bonus! Many thanks again for allowing us to stay in your gorgeous villa!!’
The Mariner Rose was a real treat for our last night in Tasmania - we hiked the Overland Track and then did a road trip up the West Coast. The property is beautiful with every detail thoughtfully considered. Amanda was a great host and we loved meeting Sophie the sheepdog too! Couldn’t fault the experience if we tried!
The location at the base of the Nut was a highlight. Within walking distance to the main street and the path to walk up the Nut. The property faces back in to the bay, which one bedroom faces. Lots of nesting birds (quiet at night) and you can see the tide change. Stanley was probably my favourite place in Tasmania.
Great accommodation so close to 'The Nut' which is why we chose to stay at Hanlon House.
We were upgraded to a room with the view of 'The Nut' many thanks for that it was a lovely surprise :)
Bed was so comfy and room was very clean. Had dinner at the local pub 'Stanley Hotel' and can thoroughly recommend them.
Stanley is one of the most beautiful towns we visited in Tasmania. The accommodation was luxurious and the breakfast bountiful, home-made and tasty. Rhonda and Chris do everything they can to make a stay enjoyable. The location near the wharf is lovely.
Stanley Seaview Inn was absolutely fabulous, such a great place to stay - the views from the bar are magnificent, enjoying a lovely afternoon with a few drinks, cheese platter and great conversation we thoroughly enjoyed everything
Beautiful cottage with fantastic views this was the highlight of our trip around Tasmania. Very Close to some great cafes and the Stanley hotel. We would love to return and stay for longer. The homemade jam is sensational as well !
Room was very comfortable with a good bed.
The view from the balcony across Stanley and towards the Nut, was beautiful!
Proximity to Stanley township was ideal, with minutes in the car to town, restaurants and sightseeing.
Luxury apartment with stunning views of the ocean and plateau.
Great breakfast supplies included, large kichen and lounge room, king sized bed. Washing machine and dryer. Loved our stay, would highly recommend it.
Nina made the place feel like a home away from home. It was well set up and very comfortable. We could have stayed there for a week if time permitted. Great location and close to everything in Stanley.
Away from the town the Post Masters Suite has a great old world, yet very modern atmosphere. When you have a clear night the stars are awesome. Even saw some little penguins wandering nearby.
Everything, this has been one of the best accommodations we have stayed at during our trip to Tasmania. Wish we had stayed longer. Loved sitting on the front deck looking out.
Convenient location close to shops and nearby restaurants. Clean, cosy and hosts were very friendly and accommodating. Loved the home made breakfast that was provided.
