Penang is my late dad’s hometown, so i’ve been visiting and staying in the Island many times since I was a child. I’d say that its capital George Town has it all; beaches, historical sites, shopping places, cultural centres, you name it and they got it.
One of the must-visit place in Malaysia whenever you’re in the country; please take note that it’s not that close to Kuala Lumpur/KL. If you’re driving from KL, it’ll take around 4-5 hours drive (and longer traveling hours train). Alternatively, you may take a 45 minutes flight via KLIA.
Oh, and skip the fancy clothing when you’re in Penang. It’s hot for the most part of the year. There’s no need to suffer in the name of fashion.

George Town is the perfect destination for those looking for a weekend getaway from the bustling concrete forest that is Kuala Lumpur. It is also perfect for those who hold a deep and special appreciation for cities that preserves their rich history and heritage. As you walk around the city, you can find yourself surrounded by many amazing street art and cute heritage sites, such as temples and other old Chinese architecture. And don't forget about the plethora of amazing and affordable street foods you can come across during your walk. Definitely don't end your day early and make the most of your evening as there are many night markets happening daily.

During our recent stay, Alan went above and beyond to ensure that our requests were handled efficiently and that we felt heard and valued as guests. His professionalism and dedication to his role did not go unnoticed, and it significantly contributed to the positive experience we had during our stay.
Exploring the local culinary scene, including Teksen Restaurant, Plus Eatery Cafe, Uncle Lim’s Kacang Tumbuk, and many others, was a true highlight of our trip. Having such a diverse selection of dining options nearby added immense value to our stay.
Thank you for providing us with a comfortable and convenient accommodation experience. We look forward to visiting again and indulging in more of the delicious offerings near your hotel.

UNESCO site, old buildings well kept, very clean streets all around. Friendly neighborhood, most business operators are very welcoming too. CAT Free shuttle bus service is excellent. We had great time visiting Kek Lok Si, The Habitat, Penang Hill, Peranakan Museum Penang, Blue Mansion, War Museum.
"The Top" at Komtar is very disappointed visit though, staff are not welcoming, very bad attitude. facility around is poor too, access to entrance is somehow confusing. Overpriced & not worth the visit.
The city council should pay serious attention in maintaining walkway of shoplots as we noticed many of the shop operator blocked their front walkway by using huge pots & plants, chairs, signboard, motorcycles and so on, forcing pedestrians to walk on the road side & fight with oncoming traffic, which already packed with double parked cars, potentially causing unwanted accident, this to me is totally unacceptable in such a beautiful city.
Tourism board/City council should erect more signboard for main tourist attractions too, it definitely helps tourists to walk around.

Charming city with a long history.
Charming city with a long history. The local food is amazing! Try the hawker stalls, local nyonya food/ restaurants. But if you want something fancier like modern western food, there are many new restaurants opened by the younger generation. Lots of coffee cafes operated by young people and they are great! It is easy to get around Penang in a Grab, and cheap too. Spend 1/2 day in Penang Hill - take the train up. Its only 4.5 min over a 2 km steep climb. The visit is worth it.
Nice Concept, Good Location
Manager of the hotel which is Non Malaysian Cut Of my Deposit Money Rm20 for the dirty Floormat which is a normal dirt for a floor mat where i mention earlier the room was a bit dirt and the dirt was a common dirt when we wipe our leg such a stupid reason he gave me when i tell him that u cant cut my money and i said i wan to talk to ur boss he said I'm the manager here which not a good service not well taught he needs to be more trained I'm really disappointed in this hotel.
The hotel feels like you are in a little luxurious yet welcoming lobby, soft carpet flooring, and beautiful dimming atmosphere.
I stayed here over Thaipusam week in a Deluxe room, which is perfect for a couple with its king sized clean bed, nice pillows, spacious seating area and private bathroom.
It was truly an escape from the hustle and bustle of KL, and it was such a relaxing experience enjoyed access to shopping malls and hawker delights while enjoying a quieter stay in the heart of George town.
Very good location, easy to access everywhere around George Town.
Strong air conditioning which is great in this hot and humid weather.
Big room, big shower room, big sized bed and 2 toilets!
Very nice staff and great hospitality.
We were going to use laundry service by hotel but it was not good timing for us(They use laundry service with third party so need to give them before 5pm-6pm and will get cloths back next day afternoon). There is a laundry place behind hotel and looks new and easy to use.
This is a very convenient one-bedroom apartment with full home appliances. The room is very clean, the staff is also very attentive and they speak English quite well.
Before deciding to choose this hotel we read the reviews and the only thing we were worried about was the noise, but around our hotel there is no bar, and only a restaurant that plays music, but they will close around 11PM-12PM so it shouldn't be a problem for us. the music is not too loud, we weren't too affected either.
fantastic location right in the middle of george town . walking distance to chulia street and other locations with good food and nice bars. was pleasantly surprised to find a loft with additional toilet and bath upstairs. There was a toilet in the room as well. So 2 person can use the bathroom without having to wait. The price of this hotel is quite hard to beat, however expectations need to be managed.
If we came back to George Town, we would stay here again. Even if we didn't see any staff, the communication was quick and easy and they kindly answered all my questions. Around the hotel there are many restaurants and all the sightseeings are very close and you can reach them walking. It was really useful the washingmachine and the line to hand our clothes.
Great location close to everything in George Town. Comfortable room with plenty of hot water and we had a good view of the cruise pier too. Excellent breakfast always plentiful even at the weekend when the hotel was busy. Small adequate gym and nice swimming pool. Staff always helpful and friendly. Would definitely use this hotel again.
Perfect location in the heart of George Town, walking distance to all you need - sights, food, temples. LIittle India, beautiful street art. Very clean hotel, clean room with nice layout and TV Lovely, friendly, warm helpful, Knowable staff. Would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay again if I return to George Town.
Location is the best if you want to explore George town, Penang. This hotel is the center and you can walk around the city from the hotel. There are minimarts, department stores nearby and the bus stop is not far from hotel. The room is big and view is good. The staffs are helpful too.
Traditional hotel with comfortable rooms. Quiet too even though it’s close to the hustle and bustle of old George Town. Walked everywhere from here, the best food market just in front of the hotel and so cheap. Staff excellent, professional and very helpful. Always smiling!
Everything. The friendliest staff and the most impeccable, clean room and great air conditioning in the gym, which is quite unusual in Malaysia! I just love this hotel and the people couldn’t do enough to help you with anything you needed.
Excellent location, super charming hotel. offers great comfortable rooms and a very nice common area including relaxed pool area.
staff was outstandingly helpful and super friendly. best stay in Malaysia, highly recommended!
It is an authentic Peranakan building in the heart of George Town. Elaborate Chinese Malaysian design. Period furnishings and tile, adapted for contemporary comfort. Michelin honorable mention restaurant. Great bar.
