Close enough to the beach despite no views. Pool was fun for the kids even though it was cold, in summer if would be perfect. Pool towels were provided. Breakfast was varied enough for kids and adults tastes and had alternative milks (oat, soy, almond) and GF bread
My husband liked that the AC worked very well, able to get down to 17 degrees
The reception staff had previously given us a quote for breakfast that was less than the published price once we got there, and the staff accommodated us to keep the discounted price which was very kind of them.
Also the washing machine "gobbled" our coins, and the staff kindly rescued the coins and allowed us a free use of the washing machine for our hassle.

Great to take the hole in the rock boat trip. Very convenient to catch the boat and hope over to Russell for a day trip. Lovely meal and walk at the wineyard in Russell. Lovely time to visit Pahia when it is sunny. Beautiful to spend 4 to 7 days chilling with the perfect sunset and sunrise. The indian restaurant along the beach at pahia is very authentic. Highly recommend pahia roadtrip.

Paihia is a very good place to stay if you want to explore...
Paihia is a very good place to stay if you want to explore Northland. If you are driving, you can go on your own to the tip of the North Island in about 3 hours. You can drive over to the Kauri Forest on the west side in about 1.5 hours. You can get tours out of Paihia for the Bay of Islands, the Ninety Mile Beach/Cape Reinga, Waitangi Treaty Grounds (you can walk there, about 3 km), rent kayaks or paddle boards, get fishing charters, take a ferry to Russell (or drive there). We spent 5 nights there and could have stayed a few more days and done even more.

Paihia is such a beautiful part of New Zealand!
Paihia is such a beautiful part of New Zealand! As the gateway to the Bay of Islands, there is so much to see and do here. There are some incredible restaurants to eat at and my husband highly recommends the Waitangi Golf Club just 5 minutes from Paihia. Definitely add the Bay of Islands to your list of places to visit in the North Island of NZ!

Great town with friendly locals.
Great town with friendly locals. All hospitality options covered, with a bar on a jetty that is very pleasant but always seemed short staffed. Easy walking town and a jetty to Russell with happy staff to greet you.
Visited Pompallier House in Russell which is well worth the visit and again met with lovely friendly greeting and service.

Walking distance to everything you need.
Walking distance to everything you need. Swimming pool is lovely ,but don't forget to bring beach towels. No fresh towel service ,but has washing machine. The two bedrooms are lovely and bonus 2 bathrooms. Great place to stay, will stay again.
Centabay was my favourite hostel that I stayed at in New Zealand!!! I loved the vibrant atmosphere, the lovely backpacker-staff and the wonderful manager who was always a joy to chat with. The prices are incredibly reasonable for a place in the middle of Paihia, and you can tell the manager isn't in it for the profit - she genuinely wants to help travellers have the best experience possible. The hot tub worked well and was always great to use. The hammocks and tropical garden are another bonus. I could go on and on!
clean tidy and close to all amenities say 5 minute drive from Paihia
Chris and Michael are awesome host we stayed for 3 nights and it was a lovely 🥰 time of our life
the backdrop is breath taking and the hosts are knowledgeable and informative
can not thank the host enough
will definitely return again in future
loved the place hospitality and the kindness
thanks a lot Michael and Chris will see you in future
Fabulous accommodation here at Paihia Central Apartments. Everything you need for a comfortable few nights. Hosts are very lovely and helpful, views over the Bay of Islands are fab. We weren’t so lucky with the weather (North Island’s stormy 2023 summer) but enjoyed our stay regardless. Would recommend keeping your luggage light, as there are plenty of steep steps up to the house.
An atmospheric cottage that oozed charm and character. It was attractively furnished and was well appointed. The beds were very comfy with one being king-sized. A very friendly and hospitable host who sent a welcoming email before arrival with detailed directions on finding the place. (Not that it was difficult to find) Already considering booking again on our next trip tp Paihia.
This was the best place I have stayed in a while. Amazing vibes. you can see the Haruru falls in the distance. I booked a deluxe room. A spacious, impeccable, clean room with TV, table, chairs, a double bed, a single bed, kitchen, shower. The staff were amazing.
If i am going back to Paihia, this is where I am staying. There's no other place I will be even considering.
The size of the room was fabulous, i had travelled through to Kaeo to spend the day with my child, and decided to book at stay in Paihia. The location suited my needs and was extremely close to what i was looking for, as i was going to have a mirimiri at the community centre with David Denton on the saturday. I also appreciated that the rooms were clean.
The location was great. Nice Bar/Restaurant next door and lots more excellent options for food and drinks in the nearby town centre of Paihia. Also very close to the ferry to Russell and all kinds of adventure rides.
Our host John was very welcoming, friendly and helpful.
Our room was nice with Bay of Island views.
It was close to attractions in Paihia, very close to Waitangi Treaty Grounds, close to the Countdown supermarket and close to a petrol station. It had a nice view of the bay. The accommodation was clean and there was a washing machine for our use.
The beds were comfy enough and they offered different pillow types. The location of the hotel was relatively good. The hotel was close to the centre of Paihia and close to many restaurants, bars and main attraction sites.
Right across the road from the beach and a fabulous view of the bay of islands looking across to Russell. The apartments are close to shops and cafes, and there is plenty to do in Paihia winter or summer.
We loved this little hotel and would definitely stay again. The reciptiionist was informative and very nice.
the room was comfortable and we could walk to dinner and the beach was beautiful.
If there is a better view in the Bay of islands I would like to know
Definitely a wow factor
Very comfortable apartment with direct access to the beach and a short walk to Paihia
The location was great, close to wharf and within walking distance of Waitangi Treat Ground. Very helpful host and staff. Excellent base from which to explore the Bay of Islands!
Location, spacious restaurant, near the beach and friendly staff … if only they will check the rooms cleanliness especially the beddings and linens, it will be a good Hotel.
Loved everything! The fact that my family of 5 could all stay in the same room was a perfect, other motels/hotels I looked at I would have had to book 2 separate rooms.
