Set atop a 100 metre hill overlooking the Kinabatangan Forest Reserve, The Last Frontier Boutique Resort is located in Bilit, and is located a 2 hour drive from the beautiful Sandakan. Everything was great, we loved our stay and didn’t want to leave at all! We were picked up by our gracious host who told us a lot about Borneo. After ascending the 600 step stairs, the view from the restaurant was amazing. Furthermore we saw a lot of wildlife on the boat trips!

Located in Kundasang in the Sabah region, Bayu Senja Lodge provides accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking. The lodge is amazing and it is location is readily and easily found within the Waze App. Signs to go to the place are easily seen so you wont get lost. Although the small stretch of roads heading to the lodge was rocky and bumpy, it was still a great experience! Location was beautiful and the view is just immaculate. Wonderful and helpful staff! Do prepare some mosquito patches for yourself if you need it. If not, you are good to go! And the parking space is limited, so plan ahead when you are renting a car to drive to this place!

Situated in Ranau in the Sabah region, D' Limbai Cottage features accommodation with free private parking. A terrace is available for guests to use at the lodge. Comfortable dining room with complete kitchen facilities. Comfortable and very clean room complete with iron, hair dryer,kettle. Stunning and wonderful view of Mount Kinabalu. Definitely will stay again. The owner/host very nice and helpful.

The staffs is very friendly and helpful. I also considering to stay at this property again for my next visit to Kundasang. The Mt Kinabalu views from my room is spectacular.

Featuring sea views, Maglami-lami Water House in Semporna features accommodation and a restaurant. There is a fully equipped private bathroom with bidet and slippers. The lodge offers a sun terrace. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Free snorkeling around Waterhouse and equipment is also free(10RM to rent fin though). Dining is amazingly delicious(we had very good crabs).

Surrounded by lush greenery, Tampat do Aman offers accommodation in Kg Tiga Papan, 30 km from Kudat. This property offers pick-up services at an extra charge (please see fine print). I was told of this place by a fellow traveller and I'm glad I listened to her. I loved that it felt like I was off the beaten track. Howard and his family made me feel so welcomed as soon as i arrived. He spent time with all guests each day having great chats. There's plenty of various types of accommodation. I stayed in the longhouse and it was fantastic. Howard is also highlighting the Rungus people (the local indigenous tribe) I loved that Howard is managing the place with an eco consciousness, starting with the compostable toilets! On one of the mornings I even participated in International Coastal Clean Up day along with all the locals at the local beach. I'm happy I stayed the 3 days. I definitely could've spent more time just doing not much but had to get back to catch my flight home.
